Almond Aguila
Almond N. Aguila is an instructor and a doctoral student in the interdisciplinary fields of secondary education and communication and technology at the University of Alberta. Her research interests include Filipino diasporic identity, virtual culture and new media. Much of her training and experience comes from popular print media. She was assistant editor to the Philippine Star's Ricky Lo and managing editor of PULP, a rock and roll magazine. As a freelance writer, Almond has experience in television scriptwriting for news and current affairs as well as entertainment programs. Before moving to Edmonton in 2010, Almond taught communication classes to undergraduate and graduate students at the University of the Philippines' College of Mass Communication where she completed a B.A. in journalism and M.A. in communication research.
