Andrew Fisher

Andrew Fisher is research fellow in the Department of Photography at FAMU (the Photography Department of the Academy of Performing Arts, Prague) and a founding editor of Philosophy of Photography. His recent research has centred on the significance of scale for our understanding of photography, resulting in a series of publications including: ‘Living with the excessive scale of contemporary photography’ in Photography Off the Scale, Tomáš Dvořák and Jussi Parikka (eds) (Edinburgh University Press, 2021). He is also currently working (in collaboration with Anke Hennig) on a translation of Sergei Tret’ijakov’s 1931 German language book, Feld-Herren into English. His article on the archival documents of Tret’ijakov’s death in 1937, ‘Life and death in the production of a Factographic object’, appeared in Philosophy of Photography, Special Issue on ‘Violence: Part 1’ (13:2, 2023).
