Call for papers for Drawing: Research, Theory, Practice, Issue 4.2

Special Issue: 4.2: Drawing Learning

Issue 4.2 of DRTP calls for submissions that stem from the relationship between drawing and learning, in particular the role drawing plays in the construction of learning within a range of educational paradigms and contexts. We are keen to understand how drawing can be utilized to encourage and develop creative learning, divergent thinking and individual cognition across a wide range of educational contexts; including early years, primary, secondary, tertiary and public-sector environments. Moreover, we are interested to understand how drawing might challenge, or is challenged by, the orthodoxies of an industrialized education system, and how it might continue to offer us routes to new knowledge and understanding.

We welcome submissions that relate drawing to learning in the following areas:

  • Drawing and educational paradigms (early years/primary/secondary/tertiary/public-sector)
  • Drawing and creative learning
  • Drawing in art school
  • Drawing in the museum
  • Drawing as laboratory
  • Drawing as transgenerational enquiry
  • Any aspect of drawing that has theoretical, philosophical, psychological or historical implications for creative learning

Submissions can take the form of:

  • Articles (5000 words, 1–6 images)
  • Research Projects (3000 words, 1–4 images)
  • Critical Essays (3000 words, 1–4 images)
  • Short Essays (1500–2000 words, 1-4 images)
  • Profiles (1500 words, 1–2 images)
  • Featured Drawings (1–2 images and 1000 words)
