Cristina Venegas

Cristina Venegas is associate professor at the University of California Santa Barbara’s Department of Film and Media Studies where she teaches about history, criticism and theory of film and media with an emphasis on Latin America and the Caribbean. She received a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, and is the author of Digital Dilemmas: The State, the Individual and Digital Culture in Cuba (Rutgers, 2010), a Choice Book Award recipient. She has also written about Cuban cinema, international film co-productions, Latin American revolutionary imagination, the digital turn in Latin American cinema, telenovelas, and media regionalism.
