Erika Fischer-Lichte

Professor Erika Fischer-Lichte is director of the International Research Centre on ‘Interweaving Performance Cultures’ (since 2008) at Freie Universität Berlin. She is a member of the Academia Europaea, the Academy of Sciences Goettingen, the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and is the former president of the International Federation for Theatre Research (IFTR). She is the author of Transformative Aesthetics (Routledge, 2018), Tragedy’s Endurance: Performances of Greek Tragedies and Cultural Identity in Germany Since 1800 (Oxford University Press, 2017), Dionysus Resurrected: Performances of Euripides’ The Bacchae in a Globalizing World (Blackwell-Wiley, 2014), The Politics of Interweaving Performance Cultures (Routledge, 2014), The Routledge Introduction to Theatre and Performance Studies (2014) and The Transformative Power of Performance (Routledge, 2008 [German 2004]).
