George McKay

George McKay is Professor of Cultural Studies at the University of Salford, UK. He has written extensively on alterative and community cultures, popular music, festivals, protest. His books include Senseless Acts of Beauty: Cultures of Resistance Since the Sixties (1996), Glastonbury: A Very English Fair (2000), Circular Breathing: The Cultural Politics of Jazz in Britain (2005), Radical Gardening: Politics, Idealism & Rebellion in the Garden (2011), and, as editor or co-editor, DiY Culture: Party & Protest in Nineties Britain (1998) and Community Music: A Handbook (2005). His Shakin’ All Over: Rock, Pop and Disability is due for publication in 2013 by University of Michigan Press.
