Ian W. Macdonald
Dr Ian W. Macdonald, Ph.D., FHEA, formerly head of the Northern Film School at Leeds Beckett University and associate professor at the University of Leeds, co-founded the Screenwriting Research Network (SRN) in 2008. He was also a founding co-editor of the Journal of Screenwriting and of the book series Palgrave Studies in Screenwriting (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013). His book Screenwriting Poetics and the Screen Idea (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013) has been described as ‘enlightening’ by Emeritus Professor David Bordwell and ‘required reading for ourselves and our students’ according to Professor Jonathan Powell, the former head of BBC Drama.
