Laura Fair

Laura Fair is an associate professor of History at Michigan State University in the United States. She focuses on urban social and cultural history in Tanzania. Her previous publications include Pastimes and Politics: Culture, Community and Identity in Post-abolition Urban Zanzibar (Ohio), and ‘Making Love in the Indian Ocean: Hindi Films, Zanzibari Audiences, and the Construction of Romance in the 1950s and 1960s’, in Cole and Thomas (eds), Love in Africa (Chicago). Her current research is on the history of cinema in Tanzania.
