M. Selim Yavuz

M. Selim Yavuz, after studying hardware security and cryptology, earned his master’s degrees in historical musicology and then ethnomusicology researching John Dowland and his religious oeuvre, followed by an attempt at defining the borders of depressive suicidal black metal. He earned his Ph.D. from Leeds Beckett University under the supervision of Karl Spracklen with a thesis on death/doom metal’s genealogy in northern England. He acted as the associate editor of Metal Music Studies and as the communication officer of ISMMS in previous years. Currently, he is pursuing his education with a second Ph.D. in political economy.
