Phylis Johnson
Phylis Johnson, Ph.D., is director of journalism and mass communications at San Jose State University, and emeritus professor of sound and new media in the College of Mass Communication & Media Arts at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. She is the former past editor of Journal of Radio & Audio Media and Soundscape: The Journal of Acoustic Ecology. She has published extensively in the area of sound, diversity and new media. She has authored four books, two of which explore the role of virtual worlds in media making.
