Ryan Aguirre

Ryan Aguirre is a Ph.D. candidate in music education at Florida Marian Hesse. As a music education researcher, he has worked with Nancy Glen, Mark Montemayor, and Alice-Ann Darrow. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from New Mexico State University and his Masters of Music Education from University of Northern Colorado. While teaching elementary music in New Mexico and Colorado, Aguirre utilized the Orff-Schulwerk approach to music teaching. During his master’s program at the University of Northern Colorado and his doctoral program at Florida State University, he has researched the intersection of music, race, and gender. His work can be read in Update: Applications of Research in Music Education. In 2019, he was the inaugural recipient of the Clifford K. Madsen Scholarship.
