Shola Adenekan

Shola Adenekan is the publisher of The New Black Magazine (www.thenewblackmagazine.com). Currently, he is associate professor of African literature at Ghent University, Belgium. Previously, he was assistant professor of literary and cultural analysis at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at University of Bremen (Germany), University of Bayreuth (Germany) and the University of Leeds (United Kingdom). He is also the author of African Literature in the Digital Age (Boydell & Brewer, 2021), and co-editor of the Special Issue ‘Digital Africas’ (Postcolonial Text, 2020). His research interests include digital culture, digital humanities, African literature and culture, and Africana studies. He is currently the recipient and principal investigator for the ERC Starting Grant, Yoruba Print Culture (2021–26) (project number 949557).
