Silvia Pizzocaro
Silvia Pizzocaro, born in Milano, holds a Master of Science in Architecture and a Ph.D. in Industrial design. She is full professor of Industrial Design at Scuola del Design of Politecnico di Milano, where she has been former chair of the Bachelor programme in Product design and of the Master of Science in Product design for innovation for the years 2012–15. A current member of the Board of Professors of the Ph.D. programme in Design, her research activity is embedded in the Department of Design, section design and cultures. Over the years she has worked at the intersection of product design theory, design research culture and doctoral education in design. For more than two decades she has worked with design theory and research methods for product design. Recent books which she has written or edited include Introduzione agli studi sull’utente. Conoscere gli utenti tra ricerca e design dei prodotti (Introduction to User Studies: Getting to Know Users between Research and Product Design) (Milano: Unicopli, 2015) and Artefatti concreti. Temi di fondamento per il design di prodotto (Tangible Artifacts: Basic Issues for Product Design) (Milano: Unicopli, 2016).
