Stephen Cushion

Stephen Cushion is a professor at Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture. He has written three sole-authored books: News and Politics: The Rise of Live and Interpretive Journalism (Routledge, 2015); The Democratic Value of News: Why Public Service Media Matter (Palgrave, 2012) and Television Journalism (Sage, 2012), one co-authored book, Reporting Elections: Rethinking the Logic of Campaign Coverage (Polity Press, 2018) and co-edited books, The Future of 24-Hour News (Peter Lang, 2016) and The Rise of 24-Hour News (Peter Lang, 2010). He has published over 70 journal articles, book chapters and reports on issues related to news, politics and journalism. Among other grant awards, he is currently a PI on an ESRC-funded project entitled ‘Beyond the MSM: Understanding the Rise of Alternative Online Political Media’ and a BA-funded project entitled ‘Accurate or Misleading? The Portrayal of MSM in Alt-Left Media’.
