Alison Jeffers

Alison Jeffers is a senior lecturer in applied theatre and contemporary performance at the University of Manchester, UK. She has published extensively on theatre and refugees, often with a focus on the ethics of participation in applied theatre and community arts. Her book Refugees, Theatre and Crisis: performing global identities (Palgrave Macmillan) was published in 2012 and her essay ‘Hospitable stages and civil listening’ was included in Refugee Performance (Intellect, 2013). More recently she has contributed to Refugee Imaginaries: Contemporary Research Across the Humanities (Edinburgh University Press, 2019) and Heritage Discourses in Europe (ARC Humanities Press, 2019).
