Alissa Walter

Alissa Walter is an assistant professor of history at Seattle Pacific University. She has published several articles using the Iraqi Ba‘th Party archives at Stanford University. She is currently preparing a book manuscript based on her dissertation, ‘The Ba‘th Party in Baghdad: State-society relations through wars, sanctions, and authoritarian rule, 1950-2003’, which she defended at Georgetown University in 2018. Her dissertation research was funded by the United States Institute of Peace, The Academic Research Institute in Iraq (TARII), the Project on Middle East Political Science (POMEPS), the Dolores Zohrab Liebman Foundation, and the American Association of University Women.
