Andrew Fisher

Andrew Fisher is a research fellow in the Department of Photography at FAMU (the Photography Department of the Film & TV School, Academy of Performing Arts, Prague) and a principle investigator of the Prague-based collaborative research project, Scale, Measure and Proportion in Contemporary Visual Cultures. He is a founding editor of Philosophy of Photography and from 2008–19 was lecturer in the Department of Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths, University of London. His major research focus is currently the significance of different conceptions and problems of scale for historical and contemporary photographies. This has resulted in a series of publications including, most recently: ‘Living with the excessive scale of contemporary photography’ (forthcoming in Photography Off the Scale, Tomáš Dvořák and Jussi Parikka [eds], Edinburgh University Press, 2020), and ‘Der fotografische Maßstab’ (Autumn 2019), in ‘Ästhetik der Skalierung’ a special issue of the Zeitschrift für Ästhetik und Allgemeine Kunstwissenschaft, Carlos Spoerhase and Steffen Siegel (eds), Heft 2.
