Andrew Ó Baoill
Andrew Ó Baoill is a lecturer in the School of English and Creative Arts at the National University of Ireland Galway. His work focuses on the interplay of technological change, regulation and organizational structure. He has published on the political economy of community media and holds an Irish Research Council (IRC) New Foundations (NF) grant for research on the sustainability of community media. He also works on the interplay of education and the media industries and is the co-author, with Brian Dolber, of an article on the political economy of media studies, as well as having served on the steering group of Media Literacy Ireland (MLI). He has worked with community and college radio stations in both Ireland and the United States, including as the founding station manager of Flirt FM, one of Ireland’s first permanent student radio stations, and as manager of WRFU-LP, the radio station of the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Centre (USA). He is a former member of the Irish Broadcasting Complaints Commission (BCC).
