Antônio Márcio da Silva
Antônio Márcio da Silva is the Brazilian Lector at Birkbeck University of London. He is completing his Ph.D. in the Department of Hispanic, Portuguese and Latin American Studies at the University of Bristol and also completed an MRes in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese & the Centre for World Cinema at the University of Leeds (2008–09). His Ph.D. deals with the representation of the femme fatale in Brazilian cinema and his MRes thesis was entitled: Brazilian Women in Prison (WIP) film: a Gendered Reading. His main research interests include the representation of constructions of gender, sexuality and race in Brazilian and lusophone cinemas, literature and popular culture and national/world cinemas and popular culture, particularly in the 1970s.
