Bruce Drushel

Bruce Drushel (Ph.D., Ohio University, 1991) is professor and chair of the Department of Media, Journalism and Film at Miami University. He is founding co-editor of the journal Queer Studies in Media & Popular Culture and has served as guest editor of Special Issues of Journal of Homosexuality, Journal of American Culture and Reconstruction: Studies in Contemporary Culture. He has published five books: LGBTQ Culture: The Changing Landscape (Routledge, 2021), Sontag and the Camp Aesthetic: Advancing New Perspectives (Lexington, 2017), Star Trek: Fan Phenomenon (Intellect, 2013), The Ethics of Emerging Media (Bloomsbury, 2011) and Queer Identity/Political Reality (Cambridge Scholars Press, 2009). He is the recipient of the David M. Sokol Award (2012) and Presidential Award (2013 and 2018) for his service to Popular Culture Association and currently serves on its endowment committee. In 2022, he received the Leroy F. Aarons Award from the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
