Catherine O’Rawe

Catherine O’Rawe is professor of Italian film and culture at the University of Bristol. She is the author of Stars and Masculinities in Contemporary Italian Cinema (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014), and of Divi: la mascolinità nel cinema italiano (Donzelli, 2015). She was a co-investigator on the project ‘Italian Cinema Audiences 1945–60’, which produced the volume Italian Cinema Audiences: Histories and Memories of Cinema-going in Post-war Italy, co-authored with Daniela Treveri Gennari, Danielle Hipkins, Sarah Culhane and Silvia Dibeltulo, and published by Bloomsbury in 2020. She has published widely on stardom, genre, gender and neorealism, and is currently working on a book on non-professional actors in Italian post-war cinema and beyond.
