David Kaufer

David Kaufer is Professor of English and Rhetoric at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. His research interests are discourse and rhetorical analysis. Between 1994 and 2009, he was Head of English at Carnegie Mellon. He is a co-founder of a successful and ongoing interdisciplinary MDES (Master of Communication Planning and Information Design) programme that is co-administered by the School of Design (in the college of fine arts) and the Department of English (in the college of humanities and social sciences) at Carnegie Mellon. For the past 20 years, he has been investigating rhetoric as an art of design and is lead author on three books.
