David Maclagan

David Maclagan is a writer and artist. After a decade teaching in art schools in the 1970s he trained as an Art Therapist and spent five years in a therapeutic community in the NHS. He was then involved in the training of Art Therapists in Birmingham and then Sheffield. He also ran an MA that focused on the relation between art and psychoanalysis. He has published numerous articles and four books, the last of which (Line Let Loose: Scribbling, Doodling & Automatic Drawing [Reaktion, 2014]) is particularly relevant to this piece. He is retired and lives in Gloucestershire.
