Deanne Genevieve Fernandes
Deanne Genevieve Fernandes is a multidisciplinary artist, researcher and creative consultant who graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in the first cohort of its MFA in illustration programme. Her work spans interactive installations, sound, community-based illustration and travel documentary, with a focus on sociocultural narratives and environmental conservation. Deanne serves as community outreach director at Creature Conserve, developing art-science pathways to promote conservation. As the story director of Creature Conserve Story Nights, she transforms stories of endangered species into theatre performances and visual art. Her research is guided by the Hawaiian concept of KILO KILO, emphasizing observation of daily experiences to inspire her creative process. Deanne integrates storytelling, drawing and writing into her workshops, fostering inclusivity and creative skills. Her future goals include publishing books, creating films and expanding her role in art and environmental awareness. Based in New York, she continues to engage with diverse communities through interdisciplinary work.
