Debra Kalmanowitz

Debra Kalmanowitz (Ph.D.), a visual artist and UK HCPC registered art therapist, has over three decades’ experience of work in the context of community, crisis support, social justice, disaster relief, trauma, resilience, refugees and displacement internationally and locally. Currently working with refugees in Israel, a practising artist, the head of the Master in Art Therapy programme at Sapir Academic College, a senior lecturer at Ono Academic College (Israel), and a psychosocial facilitator for an international humanitarian aid non-government organization (NGO). She is the co-author of The Portable Studio: Art Therapy and Political Conflict: Initiatives in the Former Yugoslavia and KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (Health Education Authority, 1997), Art Therapy and Political Violence: With Art, Without Illusion (Routledge, 2005) and Art Therapy in Asia: To the Bone or Wrapped in Silk (Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2012).
