E. J. Nielsen

E. J. Nielsen is a Ph.D. student in communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. E.J. received their MFA from New Mexico State University in 2010 and a BFA from the Ohio State University in 2005. Their research interests focus on popular media, with a special focus on monsters and the monstrous, gender studies and fan studies, as well as the frequent intersections between these areas.

E. J.’s recent and upcoming publications include the articles ‘Dear researcher: Rethinking engagement with fan authors’ in the Journal of Fandom Studies 4:3 (2016) and ‘Christine de Pisan’s Book of the City of Ladies as reclamatory fan text’ in Transformative Works and Cultures (2017).
