Eamon D’Arcy

Eamon D’Arcy is one of Australia’s most experienced designers both in the cultural and event worlds. He trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) Sydney, the Motley School in London, and holds a Master of Philosophy degree (art history and theory) from the Power Institute, The University of Sydney. In June 2016, The American University of Paris invited him to be a workshop collaborator for their Summer Design School. In theatre, Eamon was the site designer for Opera Australia open-air spectacular Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour. He has also designed several main stage music theatre productions such as Man from Snowy River Arena Spectacular, Hair, Singin’ in the Rain and Hairspray: The Musical. In addition, his designs for both Hot Shoe Shuffle and Saturday Night Fever were transferred to London’s West End. Eamon has also held a number of senior design/creative lead roles in large-scale projects such as the Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony, Sydney Paralympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies, the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Vancouver, the Cisco Pavilion at World Expo 2010 Shanghai and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Sydney. In 2021 Eamon was guest lecturer/tutor in 'Public Event Design', an online course, winter term, University of Melbourne – in association with the Victorian College of the Arts.
