Elli Papakonstantinou

Elli Papakonstantinou is a radical artist based in Greece. She conceives, directs and co-writes multidisciplinary performances with an emphasis on musicality, new media and philosophical discourse. Her art questions traditional expectations of audience participation with a focus on active citizenship. She is the founder of ODC Ensemble and runs the Art Space Vyrsodepseio in Athens. She has studied at the School of Fine Arts in Athens and Royal Holloway, University of London. She has presented work internationally, including the Edinburgh Festival (where she won the Edinburgh first award in 1997), London’s West End and London’s fringe, Athens and Epidaurus Festival, Princeton University (Fulbright Artist’s Award), Opera House Cairo, LaMaMa Theatre New York, Theaterhaus Gessnerallee Zurich, National Theatre of Greece, Onassis Cultural Foundation, Inauguration Ceremony of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Benaki Museum in Athens and International Festival of Iraq. ODC Ensemble’s work is currently touring internationally (Neuköllner Oper Berlin, Musiktheatertage Festival in Vienna, Antic Teatre International in Barcelona). In 2015, she was selected to present her work at the PQ15 (Prague Quadrennial), National Greek Pavilion, while she is also commissioned by Valetta18 Cultural Capital of Malta.
