Gene Fellner

Gene Fellner returned to school for graduate studies after spending 25 years as an artist and activist, which included being a member of the Attica Brothers Legal Defense, a brigadista in Nicaragua and being named a Distinguished Artist of New Jersey for his series of pastels on John Brown and slavery. He received a master’s degree in multicultural education and English as a Second Language in 2007 and a Ph.D. in Urban Education in 2012. He is currently an assistant professor of education at the City University of New York (CUNY) in Staten Island and occasionally teaches an arts-based research course at the CUNY Graduate Center.
