Ghazi A. Karim

Ghazi Abdul Karim (Khidhir) was born in Baghdad, Iraq in 1934 to a Baghdadi family where he had his early schooling. He earned a D.Sc., Ph.D. and DIC from London University (Imperial College) and a B.Sc. (Hons) from Durham University, UK. He was a university professor of engineering for almost five decades, initially at Imperial College and later on at University of Calgary, Canada where he is currently an emeritus professor. He is a professional engineer, fellow engineer Canada, fellow geoscientist Canada and an SAE fellow. Professor Karim taught a wide variety of engineering courses, conducted research and published very extensively including several books notably in topics related to energy, fuels and the environment. He has acted on numerous occasions as a consultant and advisor in these areas to a variety of public and private institutions and bodies all over the world including the Government of Iraq and the United Nations.
