Ghazi Abdul Karim

Ghazi Abdul Karim (Khidhir) was born in Baghdad, Iraq in 1934 to a Baghdadi family where he had his early schooling including two years at King Faisal College. He earned a D.Sc., Ph.D. and DIC from London University (Imperial College) and a B.Sc. (Hons) from Durham University, United Kingdom. He was a university professor of engineering for almost five decades, initially at Imperial College and later at the University of Calgary, Canada where he is currently professor emeritus. He is a professional engineer, fellow engineer Canada, fellow geoscientist Canada and an SAE fellow. Professor Karim taught a wide variety of engineering courses, conducted research and published very extensively including several books on energy, fuels and the environment. He has advised and consulted in these areas to a variety of public and private institutions all over the world, including the governments of Iraq, Canada, United States, United Kingdom, NZ, UAE and the United Nations.
