Giovanni Gangemi

Giovanni Gangemi is an official at the Italian Communications Authority (AGCOM), where he follows matters related to the audiovisual sector, including regulation and enforcement of quotas for European works, and to copyright and related rights. On behalf of AGCOM, he actively participates in the activities of the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA). He has worked as a market analyst at the Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori (SIAE), as a researcher in the Center for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom (CMPF) at the European University Institute. He also carried out consultancy activities at numerous research institutes specialized in media analysis. He has published several articles on the issue of the promotion of European audiovisual works, and he is the author of L’anello debole. Storia dell’altra Tv, da Marinho a Murdoch (2011, Bulzoni) on pluralism in the Italian TV market, and co-author of L’occhio del pubblico. Dieci anni di Osservatorio Rai-IsICult sulla televisione europea (RAI Libri, 2008), an analysis of the main public service broadcasters in Europe.
