Gwyn Easterbrook-Smith

Dr Gwyn Easterbrook-Smith (they/them) is a researcher based in Aotearoa New Zealand. Gwyn completed their Ph.D. in media studies at Victoria University of Wellington, and is currently teaching in the School of Humanities, Media and Creative Communication at Massey University, Wellington. Gwyn’s work uses media and cultural studies frameworks to examine the creation and negotiation of ideas about ‘community’ among marginalized groups, with a particular focus on transgender people and sex workers. Gwyn has been published in the European Journal of Cultural Studies, Feminist Media Studies, Continuum and recently published their first book, Producing the Acceptable Sex Worker (2022), with Rowman & Littlefield.
