Irenosen Okojie

Irenosen Okojie was born in Nigeria and moved to England when aged 8. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, The Observer, The Guardian, the BBC and The Huffington Post amongst other publications. Her short stories have been published internationally. Her debut novel, Butterfly Fish (Jacaranda Books, 2015) won a Betty Trask Award. Her short story collection, Speak Gigantular (Jacaranda Books, 2016), was shortlisted for the Edge Hill Prize, the Jhalak Prize and the Saboteur Awards and nominated for a Shirley Jackson Award. Her second collection, Nudibranch (Dialogue Books, 2019), was selected as one of the best books of the year in The Guardian and Observer Review by Bernardine Evaristo and Diana Evans. She was awarded an MBE for services to literature in 2021.
