Jane Hanley

Jane Hanley is Head of Spanish and Latin America Studies in the Department of International Studies: Languages and Cultures at Macquarie University, Sydney. She coordinates Spanish language courses and teaches on topics related to travel and tourism, migration, past and present popular culture in Spain, and contemporary Mexico. Her research interests include travel history, transnational cultural production and gender in popular culture in the Spanish-speaking world. Her current research project is on the influence of transnational mobility and networks in different genres, with a particular emphasis on the use and representation of the past in contemporary popular culture. Recent publications have appeared in Studies in Travel Writing, The Journal of Borderlands Studies, Transnational Literature and College Literature. She is on the Editorial Committee of the Journal of Iberian and Latin American Research.
