Jared Mackley-Crump

Dr Jared Mackley-Crump completed a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology at the University of Otago, Dunedin, which focused on the meaning and development of Pacific festivals in Aotearoa New Zealand. He has published widely in this area, including the publication of a book by the University of Hawai’i Press in 2015, The Pacific Festivals of Aotearoa New Zealand: Negotiating Place and Identity in a New Homeland. His research continues to explore and investigate Pacific festivals, but also includes popular music festivals, queer events and issues of history, gender and sexuality, diaspora and culture.
