K. J. James is professor of history at the University of Guelph, Canada and founder of the Tourism History Working Group. His most recent monographs are Tourism, Land and Landscape in Ireland: The Commodification of Culture (2014) and Histories, Meanings and Representations of the Modern Hotel (2018). His current research programmes explore the Victorian hotel visitors’ book and experiences of hotels in wartime.
