Kalli Paakspuu

Film-maker, scholar and new media artist, Kalli Paakspuu is a creator of World Without Water (2007), a new media art installation entertainment produced in a residency at the Canadian Film Centre. She is founding artistic director of Collective for Living Theatre. She produced and directed the English World premiere of Liliane Atlan’s Les Mers Rouges (The Red Seas) for Toronto’s Fringe Theatre Festival (2005) and directed When East Meets East (1997). Her other films include Goodbye Two Day Weekends (1988), I Need A Man Like You To Make My Dreams Come True (1986), Maypole Carving (1981) and October Alms (1978).

Recent publications include work in various edited collections and journals, e.g. ‘The “Last Best West”: Mapping Myth, Identity & Quality of Life in Western Canada’ in a joint publication of the journal, Textual Studies of Canada and CURA (Community-University Research Alliance) in 2009. Currently she teaches in the Culture and Expression Programme at York University.
