Kohki Watabe

Kohki Watabe is an assistant professor at Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Tsukuba. He received his Ph.D. in cinema and media studies for his thesis on Japanese immigrants’ cultural history on the West Coast before the Second World War from the University of Southern California in 2018. Being interested in art and culture in capitalist societies, he studies varieties of cultural topics from the nineteenth-century American mass culture to contemporary cultural participation on the Japanese-language Internet.
