Lauren De Camilla

Lauren De Camilla is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of French and Italian at The Ohio State University and is the author of 'Contemporary Italian horror cinema: Female directors and framing the maternal' in L'Avventura: Italian Film and Media Studies Journal (2019). She recently conducted an audience reception study on Ohio Mennonite representation in Luca Guadagnino's 2018 Suspiria, a remake of Dario Argento's 1977 slasher. In addition to horror cinema, Lauren's research interests include Italian film and visual culture, genre studies, gender and sexuality studies and discourses around diversity and inclusion. She currently serves as senior assistant to the American Association for Italian Studies.
