Leonidas Efthymiou

Dr Leonidas Efthymiou joined the University of Nicosia as an assistant professor in September 2018. He is the head of the Department of Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in management from the University of Leicester, a degree (BA Hons) in hospitality management from the University of Derby and a diploma in hotel and catering management from the Higher Hotel Institute Cyprus. His research interests include a wide range of business phenomena, varying from emotional, affective and aesthetic labour in hotels to cashless payments, corporate legitimacy and sociology of finance. He has co-edited the book, titled, The Book of Payments: Historical and Contemporary Views on Retail Monetary Exchange with Prof Bernardo Batiz-Lazo (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016). His Ph.D. thesis received the 2012 Best Dissertation award at the Academy of Management Meeting, held at Boston, Massachusetts. He is currently involved in two European projects with combined worth of 3 million euros.
