Linzhi Zhang

Linzhi Zhang is an affiliated researcher at the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge, and a research associate at the Centre for Chinese Visual Arts, Birmingham City University. She obtained her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Cambridge. Her doctoral research explains how contemporary Chinese art is produced in the making of exhibitions. She is particularly concerned with the role of social networks and art-historiographic schemata in shaping the art world. Her next research project will examine the social production of ink paintings and calligraphy in contemporary China, aiming for the theorization of artistic production in response to postcolonialism.
