Magdalena Karolak
Magdalena Karolak is an associate professor of humanities and social sciences at Zayed University (ZU), UAE. She received her Ph.D. in linguistics, MA in political science and MA in Latin American studies. Prior to working at ZU, she held positions in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. In 2014–15, she was an American Political Science Association MENA fellow. Her research interests include transformations of societies in the Arabian Gulf and comparative linguistics. She has published more than 50 articles and chapters on the gender relations, social media, culture and identity and political transformations in the GCC. She is the author of three scholarly monographs.
