Maria Helena Santos

Maria Helena Santos is a social psychologist, Ph.D., in social and organizational psychology from the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL), Portugal, and a researcher at the Centre for Research and Social Intervention (CIS-IUL) at the same institution. She carried out her postdoctoral project at the Centre en Études Genre LIEGE at University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and at CIS-IUL, focusing on gender studies and affirmative action specifically in markedly masculine (such as politics and medicine) and feminine (such as nursing and basic education) professions to explore the gender dynamics that occur in this type of contexts designated in the literature as ‘tokenism’.
