Mário J. D. S. Santos

Mário J. D. S. Santos is a research assistant and Ph.D. student at CIES–IUL, ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. His main research topics are home birth, the profession of midwifery and obstetric violence. His doctoral project, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (SFRH/BD/99993/2014), focuses on Portuguese home birth networks. Recent publications include ‘Moving beyond disrespect and abuse: Addressing the structural dimensions of obstetric violence’, Reproductive Health Matters, 24:47, pp. 47–55 (2016) (with M. Sadler, D.
