Marjaana Jauhola

Dr Marjaana Jauhola is an Academy of Finland research fellow and senior university lecturer in development studies at the University of Helsinki, Finland. She holds a Ph.D. from Aberystwyth University in international politics (2010). She studies gendered politics of post-disaster and conflict reconstruction and is currently writing up her research on the first decade of peace in urban Banda Aceh, Indonesia, using ethnography and short documentarist life history methods (for details see www.scrapsofhope.fi/aceh). Her other publications include ‘Scraps of home: Banda Acehnese life narratives contesting the reconstruction discourse of a post-tsunami city that is “Built Back Better”’ in Asian Journal of Social Sciences (2015).
