Marsha MacDowell

Marsha MacDowell is a curator and professor at Michigan State University where she is the director of the Michigan Traditional Arts Programme (www.michigantraditional arts), Michigan Stained Glass Census (www.michiganstainedglass) and the Quilt Index (www.quiltindex.org). Her research focuses on the tangible and intangible aspects of traditional cultural heritage. She has written extensively on quilts based on ethnic, regional and thematic frameworks, including studies of quilts of Native Americans and African Americans; quiltmaking in Michigan, southwest China and South Africa; and quilts related to human rights, health and proverbs.
