Matthew Liberti

Matthew Liberti is a Ph.D. candidate in English language and literature at the University of Michigan. He holds an MA in Italian from Indiana University, Bloomington, and he participated in the Fulbright program in eastern Turkey (2010–11). His work focuses on twentieth and twenty-first century narratives of migration in the United States and in the Mediterranean. His dissertation examines how contemporary literature in Italian, Turkish and English presents alternative models for a representational politics of migration. He has been the editorial manager for Humanity: An International Journal of Human Rights, Humanitarianism, and Development since 2021 and an editorial assistant and researcher for the Journal of Italian Cinema & Media Studies since 2021.
