Michael Aderemi Adeoye, Ph.D, is a leading Nigerian artist and an international art scholar. A sculptor, painter, poet, novelist, playwright and theatre designer, he was the first African (and Nigerian) to receive the British Jill Hayes postdoctoral training and research scholarship in art and performance therapy (naturotherapy) (2019). Teaching stagecraft at the Theatre and Media Arts Department, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria, he founded ÀWÒRÁN, Art Workers’ Advocacy Network, an art advocacy and research organization, seeking to enlighten and exhibit unsung anonymous African grassroots artists. His creative productions reflect his research interests: interdisciplinary semiotics of fine, performing and literary arts.
