Mireia Fernández-Ardèvol
Mireia Fernández-Ardèvol holds a Ph.D. in Economics (University of Barcelona, UB) and degrees in Economics (UB) and Business Administration (UB). She is a full-time researcher at the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (UOC, Open University of Catalonia) where she is Co-Director of the Mobile Communication, Economics & Society research programme. She is also a part-time lecturer in the Department of Econometrics, Statistics and Spanish Economy (University of Barcelona).
Mobile communication has been one of her main areas of study since 2003. With a combined sociological and economics focus, she approaches this issue using qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Her interests are set in both developed and developing countries. Mobile communication among the elderly constitutes her main research focus in developed regions, while mobile communication’s contribution to social and economic development in Latin America is her main interest in less-developed contexts.
